A small tour offers the most direct experience of Ireland in the most cost-efficient fashion. Spend your time seeing more things and places, learning more about the great moments in Ireland’s past and understanding more about Ireland’s present(and, thus, her future).Small group: Fewer people in a compact vehicle means less loading and unloading delays. A smaller vehicle can park nearer to entrances than bus parks, which means less unnecessary walking. And there will be opportunities to get to know each other before you leave and numerous opportunities to go your own way during the Circuit.
Guide / Driver: A combined guide and driver means more personal attention to each traveller’s need to know and desire to learn about what they are seeing and doing ~ for questions and ideas, special interests, family research efforts, and so on.
Variable itinerary: Small groups, a small bus and a guide/driver all mean the itinerary can be varied in advance to suit special needs and interests. It can also be altered daily to deal with weather changes, site closures or other unavoidable factors, as well as to side-track at will and benefit from local events. And it’s cheaper, too.
Experience: The itinerary is based on my knowledge gained during two years’ residence in 1978–1979 and a dozen lengthy visits since then, most of them leading cultural study tours of different sizes, goals and themes. All of the best sites (and none of the rest) are built into this itinerary: I hope you will agree!
Bed & Breakfast houses: Using B&B accommodation sites introduces a wide range of regional variety to our stopovers and ensures more personal contact with Irish people compared with more impersonal hotels. The individuality of B&B houses increases the traveller’s experience of architecture and lifestyles of numerous periods. Using more B&Bs means less doubling back to longer-term accommodation.
Small vehicle: The itinerary permits access to remote sites other tours cannot reach ~ large coaches just cannot navigate up some farm roads that lead to exciting and unusual places. Your bus is also available at all times ~ fancy an after-dinner drive? (Better than TV!)
A Minibus?: Tours have used Ford Transit and Toyota Hiace vehicles which have proved to be comfortable ‘people-movers’! Seats are contoured for individual comfort, they have three passenger doors and the windows offer a large viewing area.
Luggage: The smaller vehicle’s luggage area is necessarily limited. The solution is to travel light – doing yourself a favour at the same time.
